It’s time to hit the dance floor with the second edition of Christy Lane’s Complete Book of Line Dancing. Nationally acclaimed dance instructor Christy Lane surveyed dancers, teachers, and club disc jockeys across the nation to bring you the most popular national versions. She’s added 26 new dances to her latest book, giving you a total of 68 line and partner-pattern dances to choose from.
This how-to guide not only provides the footwork diagrams found in the first edition, but Lane has also added suggested music for each dance and written descriptions that aid in the explanation of the accompanying body movements. Sixty photographs show Lane demonstrating the unique moves and positions to a group of line dancers.
Some of the dances you’ll find in this book include [click to continue…]

Hi everyone, you just can’t believe the amazing time we are having in Beijing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our big festival is tomorrow and we are the first team to dance in front of the rostrum at the opening ceremony then lead the parade near Tienanmen Square. We had practice at 10.30 last night and it was truly like a picture book story leading the groups down this amazing street.
I have learnt to count to 10 in Chinese and had great fun with them today teaching them a couple of dances – about 200 people in the hall. The dance they loved the most was the one I choreographed to Chain Reaction! We are treated like royalty. Can’t wait to show you the photos. A professional photographer has been snapping heaps of photos which he will give to me. I was interviewed with the chairman of a large group again today but not sure I answered all his questions correctly after interpretation! [click to continue…]

A Balance of Comfort and Support
Good Footwear
Even though it is not expected that we Line Dance in cowboy boots, our footwear is very important for our personal comfort and I have proven many times that wearing shoes / boots that support your feet and ankles allow you to have better concentration when learning to Line Dance.
Having taught Line Dancing for over 17 years and teaching thousands of new beginners I notice the ladies with loose or ill-fitting shoes often struggle picking up the steps I am trying to teach them.
On several occasions I have advised them to change their footwear and, having done so, have found that not only was it more comfortable but they could concentrate far better [click to continue…]

Line Dancing
The term Line Dancing comes from the fact that you dance a routine in a formation of parallel lines.
A line dance routine is generally made up of a series or sequence of moves that is repeated over and over to one piece of music. These sequences can be from simple and easy to extremely difficult depending on the level it was choreographed for. Each song generally has its own dance choreographed to it. [click to continue…]
